Permit, License, and Case Management

Office for PLL gives an organization greater control over its business processes. Office for PLL is efficient at managing different processes because the basic functionality of the generic case is the same across the board. However, the system maintains flexibility because specific case templates can be configured to manage different processes.

A case (also known as a permit) is a specific occurrence or matter requiring decision, investigation, and/or work activities by officials. Permits, business licenses, and code enforcement activities with their applicable tasks are configured in case templates. The following items are the basic elements that can be included in a case. Each item can be assigned to a case template to define a specific process:

  • Address/GIS
  • Conditions
  • Contractor
  • Data Group
  • Fees
  • Flags
  • Inspection Request
  • Instrument
  • License
  • Main
  • Notes
  • Payer
  • Payment
  • People
  • Related Documents
  • Tasks
  • Violations
  • Workflow

Each template is only assigned those panels that are relevant to its component processes. For example, if a residential building permit requires the Inspection Request panel and the Final Subdivision Plat does not, the templates are set up accordingly. Users can set up as many templates as they need in order to manage all their processes. See Add a Case Template in the PLL Admin for 15.4 Guide for more information.
