Close a Work Order

Work orders are closed by an administrator when work is completed. To close multiple work orders, have them all open and select the Apply to All check box.

PREREQUISITES:

  • Users must have permission to close work orders.
  1. Open the work order.
  2. Fill in the Completed By field with the person who verified that all the work was completed properly.
  3. Set the Actual Finish date and time.

NOTE: If today's date is selected as the Actual Finish date, the current time is automatically entered. It can be changed if needed.

  1. Complete all assigned tasks.
  2. Verify that all information has been correctly added.
  3. Make any necessary edits or additions.
  4. Click Close. The Closed By field is populated with your login and the Close Date field is populated with the current date and time.

IMPORTANT: All required fields must be complete before a work order can be closed.

  1. Click Save.

NOTE: Users with edit after close permissions will see Reopen when they click the gear icon in the upper-right corner that is used to reopen a closed work order. See Re-open a Work Order for more information.

If there are any errors with closing multiple work orders, an error message will appear. The error message displays the errors in the current work order (if any) and any other work orders that have errors are displayed in red in the Number drop-down list.
